Frankfort, Kentucky

Frankfort, Kentucky

I was in town for some business and decided to take a walk that evening.  Frankfort has a very rich and interesting history.  Settled as early as 1780's and possibly named after Stephen Frank, a pioneer who was killed by Indians while making salt.  In 1786 the self-promoting, treasonous James Wilkinson purchased several hundred acres of land and vigorously promoted Frankfort as the state capital in 1792.  For a short summary of his scandalous life, read here.
