Kingsley Plantation
The Kingsley Plantation, built in 1797, is in the Jacksonville area of Florida, then known as East Florida and part of the Spanish colonies. It has a complicated and yet fascinating history. Zephaniah Kingsley purchased the property around 1814 and owned several plantations in the area. In 1806 he married one of his free slaves, Anna, and he put her in charge of running this plantation.
