Historic Bethania, North Carolina
A Moravian Farming Community
The town of Bethania dates back to 1759 when a group of German Moravians came from Pennsylvania to settle in a new land. Founded by Christian Philip Gottlieb Reuter the town was planned out in such a way that individual family lots lay at the center with orchards, farm lots, and wood lots on the perimeter. At its height, the town included homes, trade shops, schools and churches. Today the town is registered on the National Historic Registry with many of the original homes still in existence.
The cemetery has many American Revolution Patriots interred.
