Museum Of Appalachia

Museum of Appalachia
"Let the Past Touch Your Soul"

This little known museum and village is among my top ten favorite museums to visit.  I visited the first time in late 1990's and have returned often. Each visit I gain a greater appreciation for the Appalachian people and their history.  They've oft been portrayed in a negative light, which I think is a little misguided.  They were a fiercely independent, very resourceful, kind and generous group of folks.  Just recently I discovered a couple lines of my ancestors lived in the Appalachia areas of Kentucky and Virginia from the 1770's-1890's which might explain why I enjoyed my visits to this museum.  Please visit their website and if you're in the area of Clinton, Tennessee, plan a visit.  Their website can be found here
