Colonial Williamsburg, VA
Williamsburg, Virginia
Colonial Williamsburg is a mult block living history district in Williamsburg, Virginia. It was an early capital district of Virginia during the 18th and 19th century. The town became quite dilapidated by the 1920's and thankfully the generosity of the Rockefellar Foundation donated the necessary funds to restore the district and preserve it for future generations.
Colonial Williamsburg was the seat of Virginia during the American Founding and Revolution. George Wythe and influential lawyer, teacher, thinker and founder and signer of the Declaration of Independence, lived here. He was a teacher to Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry. A wonderful book on George Wythe - I Am Murdered.
