Alcatraz Island - San Francisco

 Alcatraz Island - San Francisco

Our visit that day, as you can see, was cold, dreary, rainy.  It sort of lent to the macabre feeling of the island and its history.  The island receives over a million visitors each year, so if you plan to visit, buy tickets well in advance and go early in the morning.  The audio tour was fantastic as are the guided tours.

The Isolation Quarters

Several officers were put in cell 402 during an escape attempt.  They were shot dead.
