Ben Franklin had gout, a painful leg condition, so he used this chaise and hired others to carry him place to place

Franklin provided much needed fire insurance to Philadelphia and they formed this office

The American Philosophical Society, a Franklin idea. He wanted to provide a place where average Americans, carpenters, cordwainers, dock workers, bakers, could come and discuss philosophy or science.

Today the American Philosophical Society is a library and this is an original map during the Jefferson administration

Franklin loved to think and discuss, so he provided a place for folks to come and do just that.
