Acadia National Park is very very beautiful and the seafood, particularly the scallops, were terrific. We also visited the oldest cemetery in Portland, Maine that had headstones back to the 1770's, although the cemetery sign said that it dated to the 1830's or so. We found the grave of Hannibal Hamlin, President Lincoln's first Vice President.

Providence, Rhode Island and Stephen Hopkins House
I visited Providence, Rhode Island in April of 2015 for a conference. I took the opportunity to visit some of the most historical homes and churches in the city, including Stephen Hopkins, a Signer of the Declaration of Independence.
Henry Clay's Home Ashland
Henry Clay is often called the "Great Compromiser" in American history. He worked tirelessly to avoid the Civil War and separation. President Lincoln greatly admired him, read his speeches and oft quoted him. We spent a weekend studying his great writings, and a terrific Henry Clay reenactor joined us for dinner but I'm unable to find those pictures just yet. His home is wonderful, but, unfortunately, pictures are not allowed inside.
