Sicily - The Godfather Tour

We took a 'Godfather' tour which took us to a couple of mountain villages where scenes of Godfather I,II, III were filmed.  We visited villages and churches where Michael Corleone met Appolonio's father, the church where they got married and the scene where Michael as a young child was smuggled out of Sicily in the sack on the donkey.  Scenes from all three movies were filmed in the village Savoca. A lovely and wonderful little village.

This city was buried in 79 A.D when Mount Vesuvius erupted.  The city remained buried under 50 feet of ash until the 1920's or so.  The city is large and vast, far bigger than our 4 hours allowed us to visit.  You could easily spend two days here and still not see it all.
